Klezmerorchester workshops 2027

12–14 February and 6–9 May in Erfurt

Save the Date! Klezmerorchester Erfurt 2027

Following our spectacular anniversary concert at Theater Erfurt in May 2026, we’re heading back to the stage where it all began! On May 8, 2027, we’ll return to Zughafen Erfurt, Halle 6 – the very place where we gave our first concert in 2016.

As always, we’ll be creating a brand-new programme during our workshops, and we can’t wait to make music with you again!

*The stage will be a little smaller than the one at Theater Erfurt, which means that, unfortunately, we’ll have to limit the number of participants once again.
Registration opens on November 1, 2026!*

Places are limited, so the earlier you sign up, the better your chances of being part of this special musical adventure. We would absolutely love to give everyone who’s interested the opportunity to play with us, and we’re incredibly happy and grateful that so many musicians want to join us every year. The stage big enough to fit us all would probably have to be built from scratch…

Save the date! Registration opens here on November 1, 2026.

First Rehearsal Phase: February 12–14, 2027

During our first rehearsal phase, we’ll get to know our new repertoire. For us, sheet music is more of a sketch than a complete picture of how a piece should sound. That’s why we don’t send out sheet music in advance. Developing your own interpretation of the notes, in keeping with the unique style and spirit of Klezmer music, is a central part of our workshop. Learning by ear is also an important part of our approach, even though sheet music is available for almost all of the pieces.

Our team of professional Klezmer musicians will help you deepen your understanding of the stylistic foundations of Klezmer on your instrument, as well as expand your knowledge of music theory. Learning from different tutors also gives you the opportunity to discover a variety of musical styles and approaches.

Klezmer is music made for dancing – and we don’t just play the melodies, we dance to them, too! Experiencing the music through movement helps you connect with the melodies and truly feel how they want to be played. Body movement sessions also help strengthen your overall sense of rhythm. This approach reflects the roots of Klezmer as a traditional musical culture passed down orally from generation to generation. It encourages individual interpretation, musical creativity, and the freedom to develop your own way of bringing the music to life.

After the first workshop, you’ll have several weeks to explore the repertoire and prepare at your own pace.

Final Rehearsal Phase: May 6–8, 2027

In May, we’ll all come together again for our final workshop in Erfurt. This is when we’ll rehearse and fine-tune our final arrangements, bringing everything together in preparation for the big performance.

Our concert will take place on Saturday evening, May 8, 2027, in Erfurt.

And there’s more! We have something else planned for May 9, 2027. Details coming soon!

Dates at a Glance • First rehearsal phase: February 12 (6:00 pm) – February 14, 2027 (3:00 pm) • Final rehearsals in Erfurt and concert: May 6 (from 10:00 am) – May 8, 2027 (concert in the evening) • Something special on May 9: More details to follow! Departure from 4:30 pm.

Music should be for everyone!

We believe that financial circumstances should never stand in the way of making music together. If you’re unable to cover the participation fee, please get in touch with us at johannes@klezwecan.de. We’ll be happy to explore the possibilities with you.

We look forward to welcoming you, sharing our passion for Klezmer, discovering new musical ideas, and creating something wonderful together!
Come and be part of it – we can’t wait to see you!
